It depends on where you are trying to log in. Please check below for the situation that applies to you for who to contact to fix it:

To log in to your library account (renew books, place holds, order Novanet books, etc.), use your SMU email and password. If you have any issues, email access@smu.ca.

To log in to the Interlibrary Loan form (ordering books, articles, etc. from outside of Novanet), use your SMU email and password, or your S Number and password. If you have any issues, email ill@smu.ca.

To log in to your computer account (access library databases off campus*, Brightspace, SMUport, printing etc.), use your S number and password. Click here to activate your account (or reactivate, if you forgot your password). If you have any issues, contact the EIT Help Desk 902-496-8111 or email helpdesk@smu.ca.

To log in to Banner (register for classes, pay tuition, etc.), use your A number and password. Click here for information. If you have any issues, contact the EIT Help Desk at 902-496-8111 or email helpdesk@smu.ca, or the Service Centre (McNally Main 108) at 902-420-5582 or email service.centre@smu.ca

* Note: If you try to log in to the SMU Library databases off campus and fail more than 10 times in 5 minutes, you will be locked out for 20 minutes. This lockout applies to your computer, so trying someone else's S number (e.g. your roommate's) on the same device, will not work. Please wait half an hour, and try again. Ensure that your log in is correct by trying it in other places like SMUport first. If it does not work there, you can reactivate your account using this link.
