International Baccalaureate (IB) students may use the Patrick Power Library with a valid IB card, providing their High School has a signed agreement with Saint Mary's University.

Borrowing Privileges:

Grade 11 and 12 students enrolled in the IB Diploma program are eligible to borrow books and other materials from the Patrick Power Library. IB students must present a valid IB student photo ID card at the Library's Circulation Desk.

The borrowing privileges for IB students are three weeks for books, seven days for periodicals and videos. Borrowed items can be returned at any Novanet library or public library in Nova Scotia.

  • IB students may renew materials online via the Novanet catalogue, but cannot use document delivery services, such as Novanet Express and Interlibrary Loan, or place recalls on items checked out.

Accessing Electronic Resources:

IB students can access most Saint Mary's electronic journals, research databases, and e-book collections in-person on designated "guest" computers within the Library. Due to limited computer workstations which are in high demand, there may be times when the Library will be unable to offer computer access to IB students. Off-campus access to databases and the use of databases with restricitive licenses is not offered to IB students.
