SMU students, faculty and staff can access the library catalogue and the majority of our databases from off campus.

To log in to your library account (renew books, place holds, order books, etc.), the username is the barcode number on your SMU card, and the default password is the last four digits of your phone number. If you have any issues, stop by or contact the Circulation desk at 902-420-5188 or 902-420-5547 or email access@smu.ca.

If you find articles or e-books by searching the catalogue from the library home page, use your S number and password for off campus access (please refer login issues to ITSS).

To access a particular database, click on Databases A-Z on the library's homepage. Choose a database, and use your S number and password to login (please refer login issues to ITSS). Note: A few databases are accessible on campus only, or in the library only. These few are marked on the A-Z page.

If you need research assistance, call the Library's Research Help desk at 902-420-5544, or send an email to research@smu.ca. You can also check out our LibGuides for tips searching within your topic.
