Note: Most of our in-print journals are now housed in storage in two locations: in the SMU library basement (catalogue will say Library Storage), and at a facility in Burnside (catalogue will say Offsite Storage). Please email access@smu.ca about retrieving journals in storage.

To search for journals on a subject:

  • Go to Advanced search in the library catalogue.
  • Select Subject from the Search Filters drop down menu.
  • Type the subject you are looking for and the term 'periodicals'.
  • Change Resource Type to Journals.
  • You can change the Search Scope to Saint Mary's University to limit to just our holdings, or search Everything to find all journal holdings in the Novanet system. You can request copies of articles for free from other libraries.
  • Click the Search button.

Next, click on the journal title in the Results list for journal details, or on the "Available at" or "Online access" links for location and availability information.
